Basic Functions

 
 Serve as one of the principal administrative officers of the University reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, H.E. the Rector of the University.
Exercise primary responsibilities for all matters in the functional area of Faculty & Personnel Affairs of the University.
Supervise the overall functions of the departments of Faculty & Personnel Affairs to assure proper implementation of the governing rules, regulations and official procedures established for KFUPM faculty and staff.
 

 

Functional Responsibilities

 
 Direct overall functional areas of Faculty and Staff Personnel
Plan and administer the local and international recruitment for faculty, professional and support staff, as required for each academic year.
Formulate and implement the governing faculty and personnel regulations.
Direct faculty and staff studies in all areas including: Wages and Salaries; Benefits; Faculty/Staff Housing; Education of Dependents; Medical and Health Provisions; Contractual Faculty/Staff Transportation and Repatriation; and all other matters relating to the employment conditions of faculty and staff.
Supervise the procedures for faculty and staff promotions, sabbatical leaves and leaves of absence, grievances, trainings and scholarships inside and outside the Kingdom.
Maintain constant liaison and representation with the Ministry of Higher Education and other concerned Government organizations on all government-related matters arising from time to time.
Supervise the maintaining of archives of all permanent and confidential faculty and personnel records.
Direct Faculty & Personnel Services in obtaining residence visas, visit visas, work permits, and all other official documentations for the University employees.
Coordinate with academic and business deans, chairmen, and department heads on matters relating to the faculty and staff working under them.
Supervise legal researches and studies related to faculty and staff of the University.
Supervise annual work study on manpower requirements and budget-planning based on the available long-range budget plans of the University.
Study and resolve faculty and staff grievances according to established rules and regulations.
Make special recommendations on salary adjustments, promotions, manpower requirements, terminations, and all other matters arising during the respective year; and present them to H.E. the Rector for consideration and/or approval.
Conduct legal investigations on critical cases and implement/recommend appropriate disciplinary actions.
Serve as Chairman of the standing committees of the University, namely, Faculty Affairs Committee, Staff Affairs Committee, Housing Committee and supervise the functions of their sub-committees.
