Giftedness appears in many different forms in every cultural group at every level of society. It is that precious endowment of potentially outstanding abilities which allows a person to interact with the environment with remarkably high levels of achievement and creativity.     Gifted and talented students are those with outstanding abilities and are capable of high performance when compared with others of their age. These are students who require differentiated educational programs and/or services beyond those normally provided by the regular college program in order to realize their contribution to self and society.     Students capable of high performance include those with demonstrated achievement and/or potential ability in any of the following areas, singly or in combination: 1. general intellectual ability 2. specific academic aptitude 3. creative or productive thinking 4. leadership ability 5. visual or performing arts 6. psychomotor ability
