Vice Rector for Applied Research
Vice Rector for Graduate Studies & Scientific Research (A)

Dr. Sahel N. Abduljauwad is a professor in the Civil Engineering Department, Vice-Rector for Applied Research, and Director of the Office of Planning and Quality. He served as Chair of the Civil Engineering Department (1990-1996), Director of Academic Development Center (1999-2002), and Dean of Academic Development (2002-2007). Dr. Abduljauwad received his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado-Bounder in 1985. His research interests include geotechnical engineering, soil-structure interaction and environmental geotechnique. He is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He has published over 100 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Abduljauwad supervised the preparation of the first strategic plan of King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (2006-2011), and contributed to the development of faculty skills in training, teaching, and evaluation of academic curricula. He is the manager of AAFAQ project for the development of a strategic plan of university education in Saudi Arabia.

 

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs

Prof. AbdulAziz A. Al-Suwayyan, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, obtained PhD Degree in Chemistry from the University of Sheffield in the UK, and B.S. Degree in Chemistry from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in 1977. Prior to his present appointment as VRAA, he was appointed as Chairman of the Chemistry Department, Director of Applied Physical Sciences Center and Dean of College of Sciences at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM).  

At KFUPM, Prof. Suwayyan supervised a number of MS and PhD. students and served on many thesis committees as member/chairman. He is member of several professional and scientific societies /organizations. 

Prof. Suwayyan received many prestigious awards, e.g. (1) Prince Mohammad bin Fahd bin AbdulAziz Award for Distinction in RESEARCH 1995, (2)  King AbdulAziz medal in first grade 1424-H. He has published many research.  

 

Vice Rector for Technology Development and Industrial Relations

Faleh Abdullah Al-Sulaiman is a professor of Mechanical Engineering. He is currently the Vice-Rector for Technology Development and Industrial Relations, and Director General of the Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Center for Science and Technology (Scitech). He served as a full time advisor for MODA in the R&D department (1990- 2001), Chair of the Mechanical Engineering Department (2002-2006), General Supervisor, Dhahran Techno-Valley 2006-2007). Professor Al-Sulaiman received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Davis in 1985. His research interests include Experimental Design, Composite Materials and Manufacturing. He is actively engaged with governmental and private sectors to develop strategic partnerships towards development, protection and utilization of national IP and new technologies.
