King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals seek from time to time dynamic faculty members to fill the position of Chair Professors. The objective of the chair is to promote and enhance the teaching and research capabilities of KFUPM in some strategic discipline. The chair professors are very important faculty members who are hired based on their distinguished quality and supported by an endowment fund from the local industry. Filling a post as a chair professor requires high qualifications and thus the expectations are very high and the expected return from these chairs is significant. The candidate shall have outstanding leadership qualities, possess strong skills in management and planning, have a commitment to excellence and be a visionary in the field. He shall have an earned doctorate in the affiliated area, hold full professorial rank and have a proven record of achievement. The attractive tax-free Financial Package available to the chair holder is extremely generous.
The Office of International Cooperation has now been charged with the coordination of the work of Chair Professors. The OIC will manage and track the activities in each of the chairs available at KFUPM. The requests that are made in connection with these chairs will be assessed by the OIC before a recommendation is forwarded to the Vic Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. The OIC shall produce an annual report to the University management on the activities of each of these chairs and their performance assessment.
The OIC will be part of the annual evaluation process that the university does for those chair professors, contract renewals or benefit adjustments. The evaluation process will consider the input from the OIC as a major input that would influence the final evaluation or a decision on contacts renewal or benefits adjustments. Currently, the university has 6 Chair Professors in different departments. The table below gives detail information about these Chair professors.
