Visiting scholars represent an unparalleled opportunity for academic, research and cultural exchange. This program will benefit faculty, researchers and students. The faculty exchange program would allow our faculty to participate in teaching, research or both of them in other universities. The student exchange program will allow our students to take courses or conduct research in other universities as well as doing their training/coop assignments in international companies. There is little else that can be as effective as an international cooperative education program in preparing our students for a global business and academic environment. Our students could be placed in international companies in exchange of international students substituting for them in our local companies. The duration of the exchange program could be either short (less than a semester) or long (a semester or more).
The exchange program could be expensive and the cost will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Typically, the host institute will cover accommodation which could reduce the cost but the tuition, travel and living expenses are the major factors in determining the cost of the program.
Faculty Exchange
King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals has bilateral agreements with a number of countries that allow exchange of faculty. Proper documentation is required before the University issues an invitation letter to such candidates. KFUPM has had faculty from the US and a limited number of other countries. Applications for both inbound and outbound faculty are available in our e-OIC office.
Visiting Scholar

Student Exchange
If
you would like to have a new educational experience, and you are in
the junior or senior year of study, discuss the International
Student Exchange programs with us. Studying and living in a foreign
country is a wonderful opportunity.
There are many benefits: you will develop independence, increase your cultural awareness and benefit educationally. Prospective employers will identify you as an independent, mature, responsible person with an international experience. It may be the deciding factor in your being employed.
Outbound Students
To be eligible to participate on an exchange you must:
Be a registered student in good standing at KFUPM
Have a minimum GPA of 3.5.
Be returning to the KFUPM for at least one semester following the exchange to complete your program

Inbound Exchange Students
Consider an exchange at the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals. In principle, only students enrolled in a university with which KFUPM has a university level exchange agreement covering short term student exchange are eligible to apply as inbound exchange student.
