Message from the Director On behalf of our dedicated researchers and technicians, I am pleased to introduce the Center for Environment & Water. Our primary objectives at the Center are to develop the most effective and suitable technologies that contribute effectively to the improvement of water utilization and conservation, and to further efforts to protect the environment and preserve the natural resources of the Kingdom. We assist government authorities as well as the private sector in these endeavors. Over the past two decades, the Center has gained recognition as one of the region’s leading institutions in areas related to marine sciences, environmental pollution, and water resources.
The Center has shown
that its strength lies in its
action-oriented teams of multidisciplinary
professionals and experts whose pioneering spirits are the major force
driving the efforts to create innovative solutions to practical
problems. Of about 47 scientific and technical staff members, 30
percent hold Ph.D. degrees, 35 percent hold an ME or MS, and 35 percent
hold BS and other degrees or certifications. We maintain excellent
laboratory and data processing facilities.
Our work is aligned in four areas, namely: environment, water, marine studies, and analytical laboratories. Over the current decade, the Center has started and average of nine projects annually. These have totaled in average about Saudi Riyals 15 million per year.
