Research Innovation & Support Office
On behalf of our staff, I welcome the opportunity to explain the scope of our work in support of the KFUPM research community. The Research & Innovation Support Office is one of the two main support offices serving the applied research program at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals; the other is the Support Services Office (see separate introduction).
We provide vital support in the areas of research contracts administration, quality control (technical editing of research reports), administration of patent applications and handling of other intellectual property issues, and legal support in the areas mentioned. Our additional functions include library administration and literature research support, design and publications, graphic arts, and assisting with the University’s e-Business system. A regular program of technical seminars at the Research Institute is also organized and conducted by our Office. Additionally, we liaise regularly with research clients and organize internal management reviews of projects with the intention of identifying issues of concern as well as positive developments regarding projects. We issue the Research Institute Annual Report, support the Research Institute website, and participate in numerous conferences and special events. We compile a Manual of Policies & Procedures and various guidelines for researchers such as the Contract Research Manuals series on Writing, Style, and Proposal Writing.
Our Manager is designated as the Assistant for Planning to the Vice Rector for Applied Research and Secretary of the University’s International Advisory Board.
We recognize that our role is to support the research community and make ourselves available to assist as needed.
