Support Services Office

I am pleased to describe the Support Services Office in terms of our objectives, mission, vision, principles of service, and functions. We are one of the two main support offices for applied research at the University; the other is the Research & Innovation Support Offices (see separate introduction).

We have over 30 full-time professionals in various fields, e.g., administration, accounting, personnel, engineering and others all striving to provide a full range of administrative and technical services to the applied research sector in the University.

We are in the business of providing the technical services and administrative systems that we recognize are necessary to efficiently and effectively support applied research programs at the University. Our delivery systems are integrated into the Research Institute’s mission processes. Therefore, the systems are defined as policies, procedures, operations, and maintenance. Our mission-critical processes are defined as the delivery of integrated services and the delivery of an excellent scientific research environment to the research community in the University.

Support services delivery systems are integrated in the University’s mainstreams. The goals of integration are increased efficiency and effectiveness that will provide the mission-critical processes with enhanced flexibility which results in quicker response time to the researchers’ needs and changes in their environment.

The Support Services Office entity is envisioned to deliver essential and value-added services to the research process. In support of the University’s mission, our values, which are recognized and rewarded, include: professionalism, teamwork, and improvement.

We achieve our objectives through the following:

  • Encouraging the adherence to generally accepted management principles, established policies, and applicable regulations throughout the research process.
  • Establishing and following-up efficient and business-like procedures for the management of research projects.
  • Ensuring the proper operation of Research Institute buildings, equipment, and services.
  • Setting high standards of safety and ensuring the adherence to security policies.
