The International Advisory Council holds its 22nd meeting

The International Advisory Board of King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) held its 22nd meeting on September 25, in the presence of the Board members which constitute a group of prominent local and international scientific figures in the academic and industrial sectors.

The agenda of the council includes four main topics: transformation for the research enterprise towards higher efficiency & sustainability, downstream integrated program, overview of the Chemistry Department and status & growth perspective of the Business Park, in addition to discussing the readiness of the university to the transition period for the next stage of higher education in the Kingdom.

Dr. Nasser M. Al-Aqeeli, Dean of Scientific Research gave a presentation on the scientific research of the university and the development of its curriculum in order to be capable of developing its society and providing scientific and practical solutions to the problems facing the society with research and studies required by governmental or non-governmental organizations.

The Director of the Refining and Petrochemicals Center, Dr. Sulaiman A. Al-Khattaf gave a presentation on the refining and petrochemicals center and its role in providing technical consultations, conducting studies and implementing projects funded for companies and bodies.

Dr. Iyad Al-Zaharnah gave presentation on the Business Park, the future vision of the Dhahran Valley Technology and the completion of the technical cycle of the product knowledge by 2020.

Dr. Abdulaziz Alsaadi, head of the Chemistry Department, reported on the latest developments in the department and its role in equipping the country with highly qualified graduates and strengthening their research capabilities to meet the needs of the renewed and developed in the labor market and to enhance the competitiveness of the Department students.

According to Dr. Al Bayat, Secretary General of the IAB since the establishment of the Board, the university has been keen to choose its members in a balanced manner between the industrial and academic sectors. It has attracted a number of the world's leading academics, university administrators, CEOs and senior officials of the world's largest industrial companies.

IAB seeks to achieve a set of objectives, such as supporting the University's efforts to enhance its competitive advantage and prestige worldwide, activate the university's partnerships with international academic and industrial institutions, propose new development initiatives and contribute to the development of KFUPM educational process and the research output and community communication.
