Description: A Course Management System (CMS) integrates the variety of services available in an online environment that can support teaching and learning related tasks. The system is implemented at an institutional level, which provides authenticated access to the members of the community. Implementing a CMS at a higher education institution has become an essential step towards promoting the use of web in teaching and learning. The integrated access to web-based resources specifically designed for teaching and learning activities greatly facilitate instructors in utilizing web with their instruction. The session will discuss the significance of implementing a CMS at a higher education institution. It will highlight the need for a careful decision making process in selecting and implementing a CMS. Important features commonly found in most of today’s CMS will also be discussed.
