Date: Wednesday, 10th Mar, 2021
Time: 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Location: Online by using this link (https://kfupm.zoom.us/j/96765453054)
Dr. Muhamad Felemban
Assistant Professor, COE Department
Quantum computing is an emerging field that exploits the quantum phenomena to perform operations on data. The goal of quantum computing is to find quantum algorithms that are significantly faster than classical algorithms solving the same problem. In this talk, the speaker will explain the basic elements of quantum computation and the advantages they offer from a computer science perspective. In addition, the speaker will talk about the myths and misconceptions about quantum computing. Finally, the speaker will discuss the state-of-the-art technologies and applications of quantum computing, the challenges of building scalable quantum computers, and how quantum computing is related to Computer Engineering major at KFUPM.
Dr. Muhamad Felemban is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Engineering Department, at KFUPM, Saudi Arabia. He earned his BSc in Computer Engineering from KFUPM, in 2008; his MSc in Computer Science form KAUST in 2011; and his Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University, USA, in 2018. His research interest includes cybersecurity, data security and privacy in data management, and application of Machine learning in cybersecurity. He has developed several courses including Cloud and Edge Computing, Data Privacy, and Quantum Computing.
All faculty, researchers and graduate students are invited to attend.
